3 Top Options for Long Term Care

I was reading an article on the cost of Long term care and how most people are confused on who pays.  This reminded me of when I worked in a skilled nursing facility as Medical Social Worker.  When we would go over the options for long term care and the prices their faces would drop, not expecting that long term care cost an arm and a leg.  A common response would be “does medicare or my private insurance pay for this?  The sad truth is “no” medicare and private insurance does not pay for long term care no matter where you are placed.

If you or someone you know is needing 24/7 supervision and care I listed 3 options and there cost for Long term care:

  1. Long term care skilled nursing facility starts at $10,000 per month
  2. Private hire in home care $12,000 or more per month, cost depends on hours and care provided
  3. Residential care home $4,000-$8,000 per month
